Millennial Mindset – Four Ways to Define Success

A colleague and I were presenting a status report on a client project to a well known business school located in Lausanne, Switzerland several weeks ago.

During our discussion on better understanding the customer, I didn’t hesitate to ask Professor Martha Maznevski (Professor of Organizational Behavior and International Management at IMD, and the MBA Program Director) what she was specifically experiencing with millennials and what insights or trends she might share.

In her article Digital Cowboys, published in December, 2012, she cites three of the four.

  • Boundaries and roles are fluid and permeable.
  • Power is distributed, control requires permission.
  • There is no success without sustainability for individuals, organizations, society, and the environment.

And later she mentioned to me:

  • They have a deep loyalty to their principles

Over the next few weeks, I want to spend time on each of the following four trends. Stay tuned for Part I: Boundaries for Millennials.
